About the Poet

Jawad Sheikh is recognized as a rising poet in Urdu ghazal. He hails from Bhalwal, District Sargodha, Pakistan. Having spent thirteen years in Oslo (Norway and Portugal), he embarked on his poetic journey in 1997, with a formal beginning in 2002. He earned his Master’s degree in Urdu literature from Sargodha University and served as the General Secretary of Halqa-e-Arbab-e-Zauq, Oslo (Norway).

In January 2016, his first poetry collection, Koi Koi Baat, was published, receiving widespread acclaim in literary circles. He frequently participates in poetry symposiums across various countries and has been the recipient of multiple literary awards. Notably, Koi Koi Baat was honored with the “Nam Girifta Award 2016/2017” and the “Ishara Literary Award 2017.” Many of his verses have found a permanent place in the speech of common people.
